This mysterious trailer just popped up on the Call of Duty youtube channel… nobody really knows what it is. Maybe a new Downloadable Content incoming? They just released 4 different Map Packs!

If Activision takes that video down, use this back-up, instead:

We’ll know more about what this teaser video is about soon. At least that’s what the video says.

PS3 BO update is live, Annihilation activated, and 4th map pack?

July 28th, 2011 No comments

Ahead of the July 28th release of Annihilation for PS3, and PC, Treyarch released a patch update. It’s quite a small one.

7/26/11 (Patch 1.11)
• Security updates.
• Support for Annihilation Map Pack (releasing July 28)
• Search and Destroy audio tweaks for planting and defusing.

Annihilation is activated in this update – the update actually implements the map pack well ahead of Annihilation’s release. [source] Rumors are floating around that the un-announced fourth Map Pack is also implemented in this update, possibly in conjunction with the release of Call of Duty Elite on July 15th.

Not only that, the release of Annihilation also activates Double XP weekend starting tomorrow. To see one of Annihilation’s maps, enjoy Hangar 18!

Enjoy Annihilation, folks!

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Brings the Heat With Call of Duty: Black Ops Annihilation Content Pack for PlayStation 3 System and Windows PC
New DLC for Global Phenomenon Call of Duty: Black Ops To Launch in 13 Days

July 15, 2011 – Call of Duty: Black Ops is T-minus 13 days away from launching its latest content pack on the PlayStation3 entertainment system and Windows PC with the worldwide release of Annihilation, the third DLC for the blockbuster title from Activision and Treyarch.

Call of Duty: Black Ops has shattered sales records and drawn millions of gamers online since its November 2010 launch, with Black Ops fans logging billions of gameplay hours to date. Annihilation features four new multiplayer maps comprised of a Cuban cliff-side golf course, a 1960s American Drive-In theater and much more. Additionally, the fan-favorite Zombies are back in the mythical paradise of Shangri-La, overrun with a new species of zombie and innovative gameplay surprises around every corner.

“With Annihilation, the team at Treyarch and Activision has shown its continued commitment to bringing new and unique content to our fans,” said Treyarch Studio Head, Mark Lamia. “Players are getting four of the best multiplayer maps to date with Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo and Hazard. They also get a brand new dose of thrills in Shangri-La, our latest Zombies offering, packed with deadly traps and dark secrets buried within the shifting walls of an ancient and mysterious temple.”

Developed by Treyarch and published by Activision Publishing, Inc., Call of Duty: Black Ops is rated “M” (Mature) by the ESRB for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence and Strong Language. For additional Call of Duty updates, visit www.callofduty.com/blackops and also via Twitter @Treyarch.

New Black Ops Multiplayer Trailer!

September 2nd, 2010 No comments

Call of Duty: Black Ops has been building up more, and more hype, which in turn creating more talk, more speculation. Recently, Treyarch teased about a huge multiplayer reveal. Yesterday, Sept 1st came and gone. What we DIDN’T know, was that the reveal was going to be from a press-only premiere event. I’ve seen some impressions already, so there should be a lot of information to look up. For now, you can check out the full multiplayer reveal:

Here’s what I noticed in the trailer:

First, the game modes are:

One in the chamber: Everyone in the lobby begins the match with a pistol. Each player has 3 lives. You kill someone, you gain a bullet in your pistol.

Sticks and stones: Everyone starts with ballistic knives, and a crossbow. You also have a tomahawk. If you kill someone with a tomahawk, they’re bankrupt. I’m guessing they lose the two weapons – and rely on picking up a weapon elsewhere.

Gun Game: I think this is an Old School match with a twist; you begin the match with a randomly selected gun. Every person in the lobby has the same randomly selected gun. The catch is, if you die, you lose both a level, and a gun you had in your disposal. However, if you kill someone, you gain a better weapon than you previously had.

Treyarch is dead serious about customization which is what you’ll be seeing from here on out; Treyarch is making the tagline “Compete, Customize and Create” as the slogan for the mulitplayer portion of Black Ops. One of the major changes is the fact that your XP is now known as the “Call of Duty Points.” They’re “money” in the COD world. This means, that every kill that used to net you XP is now seen as a bartering service. You can buy weapons, and equipments with CP. This means, if you buy a weapon or equipment, you’re going to have to regain that amount of CP to continue onto leveling up to the next level or prestige.

Create a Class: There’s a brand new create a class menu; every time you change perks, you change your character’s appearance. The changes are determined by tier 1 perks. If you equip the Flak Jacket perk, you get an armored appearance.

Controls Altered: Treyarch altered the controller setup a bit; the right thumper will activate lethal stuff. While the left thumper will activate any tactical equipment/weapons. There’s a new category for equipment; deployable weapons.

Diving: If you sprint and go prone at the same time, you will dive into the ground.

Highest KillStreak is 11 – Cue the #%@&ing facepalm. Here’s to hoping the killstreaks aren’t customizable as MW2 was.

No Stopping Power. Epic Fail. There’s no countering Flak Jacket users.

Custom Red Dots – Smiley-Holo is just one of the customizable Red Dots for your weapons.

The KillStreaks are:

- RC-XD – A remote controlled car that also explodes.
- Sam Turret – It looks like a turret designed to counter-attack killstreak helicopters/gunships.
- Grim Reaper – A rocket launcher that explodes at the player or surrounding objects.
- GunShips – Take control of a gunship. You’re the pilot.

Perks and Camos are unlocked via “Call of Duty Credits.” Not sure if it is the same thing as the CP’s mentioned earlier.

What do you think? Awesome? Crazy? Are you excited? We’ll have more in the coming months as we approach the Nov 9 launch date for the game.

Black Ops Multiplayer Teaser Trailer Released!

August 9th, 2010 No comments

Activision has been tight-lipped about the multiplayer aspects of Call of Duty: Black Ops. They’ve been hyping more about the single player aspects of the game recently. Being able to fly a hovering helicopter and throwing missiles and causing chaos on lush environments? SIGN ME UP! Black Ops is everywhere – basketball game, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and all over the internet. So, Josh Olin (@JD_2020) released a teaser trailer for COD: Black Ops’ Multiplayer.

What I get from the trailer is that Treyarch has copied almost everything from MW2. But the trade-up here is that there are some new gameplay mechanics teased in here.

- Skewer: I don’t know wether I read it right or not, but I’ll give it a stab: “Stealth killed an enemy with the ballistic knife.” Meaning that you can be stealthy in the game. I am getting the feeling that treyarch is looking for more stealthy players.

- Security Cameras: At the start of the trailer, we’re introduced to the radar being replaced by a security camera – as you sneak in, you’re being shown from the direction you came in from. And you can actually pick the camera up and use it as you like.

- New CallSigns: Introduced in MW2, treyarch implements their own callsigns – and this time, they’re going the mile by awarding people background “titles.”

- Crossbow: I think this thing will replace Semtex Grenades entirely for some people; you can throw a stickable arrow at your enemy, and a bomb will go off.

- Remote Controlled Cars: This one will be very frustrating for some people. But you can control small cars to crash into people or explode once detonated.

- Remote Controlled Missles? Some people are saying it looks like a predator missile, but upon close inspection, it was horizontal, not vertical.

- Recordable Matches: I dunno if its for full-game, or its for Game Winning Kill…. but its something that a lot of people have requested and wanted. It looks like you can rewind, fast forward, and all the recording tools, and even better: First person or Third person. You can grab a screenshot, too!

I’m lovin’ what I see so far, hopefully we know more information about Black Ops when they release the full multiplayer trailer on September 1st!
