Activision and Treyarch has been on a hype-train since they revealed COD7 to be Call of Duty: Black Ops. They released a tease trailer on May 1st, on Spike TV’s GameTrailers show. Since then, a lot of information has surfaced. A lot of speculation about COD: Black Ops has been giving Black Ops a lot of attention. The game looks to take place in the Cold War era. Ya know, where secrets and lies are the norm?
Activision has been going through hard times with Infinity Ward after all they’ve done for IW. However, with COD7, they’re going to squeeze every last ounce of marketing muscle for Treyarch, even though they haven’t been doing so in recent times. The full premiere trailer was broadcasted during a NBA Eastern Conference Finals commercial break or two, just like Activision did with MW2.
This month’s issue of Official PlayStation Magazine asked Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia if we’d be seeing Zombie Mode returning Black Ops, he responded:
“We really like the Zombie Mode, and as I mentioned I can’t talk about the co-op mode other than to say one of the reasons we love it so much is that it feels like it was a fan adopted mode, made out of passion of a lot of the team members here.”
OPM then mentioned that they wanted to see the Zombie Mode in the final game and he replied:
“Well all I can tell you is we listen to the fanbase. Those are our consumers, so…”
Great news for all you PC gamers out there, Treyarch’s studio head Mark Lamia has confirmed in an article in PC Zone magazine that we will be seeing dedicated servers for PC in Call of Duty: Black Ops
“I think dedicated servers are excellent. I don’t see any reason not to see them unless… well, I just don’t see any reason not to. It seems people like them and we’re excited about what we’re doing right now.”
He explains further: “We do work very hard to reconcile the desire to manipulate and modify those dedicated servers with offering them the persistent experience and benefits that the console system provides.
“We’re working very hard to marry those two things, so people can run dedicated servers and also participate in the communal experience the console players get to have, given they’re all on first-party servers.”
I’ve spotted (and hopefully correctly identified) the following weapons in the Black Ops trailer.

Earlier today, I posted the announcement that Treyarch is working on Call of Duty: Black Ops, formerly known as Call of Duty 7. GameTrailers went and aired a teaser trailer for the game. Why a teaser trailer? Well, we’re one month away from E32010, so chances are we’re going to find out a whole lot more about COD7, then. So, until then, here is the teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops!
I’ll update this post with a youtube version if I can find it.
EDIT: Here it is:
